Why Zanzibar

Zanzibar is the natural conclusion to a Tanzania safari and Kilimanjaro climb. The flight from Arusha takes 1.5 hours. The island has a genuine, layered culture — Stone Town's Swahili and Omani history, the spice farms, the dhow fishermen — that makes it far more interesting than a beach alone.

The beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa on the north coast are among the most beautiful in the Indian Ocean: powder-white sand, calm clear water, stunning sunsets. Diving at Mnemba Atoll is world-class. The price-to-experience ratio is excellent.

Why Mauritius

Mauritius is a more developed, resort-oriented destination. If your priority is an all-inclusive luxury beach holiday with organised activities, multiple restaurants, golf courses, and spa facilities, Mauritius delivers at a higher baseline quality than Zanzibar.

Mauritius works better as a standalone beach destination than as an extension to a Tanzania trip. The routing is complex, the cost is higher, and the combination does not flow as naturally.
