The two things you came to Tanzania to do.
What is Safari Kilimanjaro? →Safari Kilimanjaro combines the climb and the safari in one seamless plan: one deposit, one WhatsApp thread, one family from summit to savanna.
Planning ahead? Route permits and camp availability for peak season (June–October) fill 6–10 months in advance. Start your planning early — we still have availability for most dates.

Kilimanjaro climb planning
Start with the climb question searchers ask first
If you are researching a Kilimanjaro climb, the real decision is not only route name. It is how many acclimatisation days you need, where the safari fits, and whether one team can manage the handoff from mountain descent to wildlife parks.
Read the complete climb + safari guide →Can beginners climb Kilimanjaro?
Yes, if you choose a non-technical route with enough acclimatisation days. First-time trekkers usually do best on 7-day Machame, 8-day Lemosho, or Northern Circuit rather than rushing the mountain.
How long does a Kilimanjaro climb take?
Most successful climbs take 7–9 days on the mountain, then one recovery night in Arusha before safari. A complete summit-plus-wildlife trip usually needs 10–14 days door to door.
What should I compare before booking?
Compare route length, summit success rate, porter ethics, included transfers, rest days, and whether your safari is coordinated by the same team. The cheapest climb is rarely the best value once recovery and wildlife days are added.

Common Questions
Climbing Kilimanjaro and safari — together
Is combining Kilimanjaro and safari on the same trip realistic?
Yes — thousands of climbers do it every year. After summiting, most climbers rest one night in Arusha, then transfer by private Land Cruiser to the Serengeti (4 hours). The key is building in a rest day between the mountain and safari — this is included in all our combo packages.
What is the best route for a climb-and-safari combo?
Lemosho or Machame are the best routes for combo trips. Lemosho has the highest summit success rate (96%) and gives you 2 rest days on the Shira plateau — better for altitude acclimatization before your safari. Rongai is the driest route and best for July–August combinations.
How physically demanding is a climb-plus-safari combination?
The Kilimanjaro climb is the main physical challenge — 7-8 days of hiking at altitude. The safari afterward is done from a comfortable Land Cruiser, so it's relaxing by comparison. If you can hike 6-8 hours daily for a week, you are fit enough for the combo.
What wildlife will I see on the safari after Kilimanjaro?
Our standard combo safaris visit the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Depending on season, you may also catch the Great Migration (December–March in the Serengeti). Ngorongoro Crater has the highest predator density in Africa.
How much does a Kilimanjaro + safari combo cost?
Our combos start at $3,952 per person for a 10-day Machame + Ngorongoro package. See the full breakdown on our 10-day combo page — day-by-day itinerary, what is included, and upgrade options. Longer combos (14-21 days) with premium lodges range from $5,096-$8,320. Group discounts for 4+ climbers.
Why book the climb and safari with the same operator?
One operator means zero hand-offs. Same emergency protocols on the mountain and safari. Same safety standards. One deposit, one WhatsApp thread, one point of contact from inquiry through summit to safari. Our guides have summited Kili and know how to pace your game drives for post-climb recovery.
I'm climbing Kilimanjaro for a milestone — anniversary, birthday, retirement. Can you make it special?
Yes. We've arranged summit-day champagne handoffs, bespoke celebratory dinners at Arusha's best restaurant, and even a private vow-renewal ceremony on the mountain for anniversary couples. Tell us your milestone when you WhatsApp — we'll design the details around your story.
What if I've never done anything like this before — is it really for ordinary people?
The honest answer: Kilimanjaro is challenging, but it is not technical. Our oldest summiters have been 73 and 75. The key is choosing the right route (Lemosho or Northern Circuit for first-timers — they have the best acclimatisation profiles), giving yourself 8+ days on the mountain, and letting our guides pace you properly. 95% of our climbers reach the summit.

Common Questions
What travellers ask most
How much does a Kilimanjaro + Safari combo cost?
Safari Kilimanjaro combo packages range $3,000–6,000/person for 8–12 days. This includes Kilimanjaro climb (all park fees, guides, porters, meals, accommodation) plus a 3–5 day safari (park fees, vehicle, guide, lodge accommodation). Combo bookings save 15% vs. booking separately.
What is the best Kilimanjaro route combined with a safari?
Most clients choose the 6-day Machame route for Kilimanjaro (95% summit rate) combined with a 3-day Tanzania safari (Ngorongoro + Serengeti). This 9-day combo is the most popular. Alternative: 7-day Lemosho + 4-day luxury safari.
Do I need to be very fit to do the combo?
Kilimanjaro requires good cardiovascular fitness and altitude acclimatization — not technical climbing. Safari requires no special fitness. We recommend 3–6 months of aerobic training before your climb. Our guides pace all climbs for proper acclimatization.
